Alta Sierra
Cradled between Mt. Olive and Wolf Mountain, Alta Sierra offers its
residents clean air, quite streams and small lakes. The community of 6,200 acres of
oak, pine and fir studded land is divided into about 2,300 building sites. Alta
Sierra Estates offers homes on city size lots and Alta Sierra Ranches has homes on
acreage. The Alta Sierra Country Club and 18 hole golf
course is the heart of the community. There is a commercial strip of businesses near
Highway 49 at the main entrance to the tract.
One of the most unusual advantages of living here is that Alta Sierra has
a small airport so that the residents can commute to work by plane if they choose. This
lovely area sits about four miles south of Grass Valley and Nevada City.
The average elevation here is 2,000' and gets an occasional snowfall.
It is a well forested area so the temperatures are about 10 degrees cooler in the
summer than other communities in the foothills.
The Country Club is open to the public and is not included with home
ownership. The views of the evergreen course and beautiful waterways are for
everyone to enjoy. Club membership includes access to the mountaintop driving range,
pro shop and clubhouse, dining room, lounge, swimming pool and tennis courts. The 18
hole golf course is very challenging as it follows the steep hills and down wide ravines.
Little lakes and creeks create many water side home sites.
